Tír na nÓg – Transmissions (Vinyl)

Radio archive gold from Ireland's original prog folk duo. Transmissions gathers broadcast recordings from Leo O'Kelly and Sonny Condell's early seventies peak, split across a studio side and a live side. The studio session includes a reading of Dylan's Maggie's Farm alongside material from the 1971 debut, DJ chatter carefully removed, while the live half catches them in concert for the BBC with the whole set drawn from that first record. Nobody else sounded like this then and nobody does now: two guitars in strange tunings, sung in close harmony, hovering somewhere between trad, psych and something entirely their own. Pressed on vinyl in a limited run of 250 by Mega Dodo, so if you've been meaning to fill this gap in the collection, don't sit on it.
