This two CD set from BGO gathers the complete early recordings of the Furey brothers: the three duo albums released on Transatlantic and Dawn between 1968 and 1972, plus Traditional Irish Pipe Music, the solo piping record Finbar cut between the first two. Long rarities on vinyl, they document the brothers before they folded into the wider family band, with Finbar's championship-winning uilleann pipes and whistles set against Eddie's voice, guitar and bodhrán.

The Lonesome Boatman's title track alone earns the set its keep, Finbar's low whistle air having long since passed into the tradition itself, while the debut carries Come by the Hills and The Curragh of Kildare, and The Dawning of the Day fills out the sound with banjo, fiddle and bass from their post-Clancy Brothers touring years. Remastered from the tapes, with original sleeve notes and a John O'Regan essay in the booklet.
